If you are not sure which is the best local transmitter for your area, you can use the Government's MySwitch website to check. Enter your address into the MySwitch website and then check the "Transmitter Information" on the results page. In addition to confirming your local transmitter, the MySwitch results page also shows the distance and bearing from your home to the transmitter, and the quality of signal you can expect.
The available VHF and UHF channels displayed are the RF channels, which refer to the electromagnetic frequencies on which the TV signals are transmitted. This is different from the logical channels, which are normally displayed on the TV set when viewing channel information. The RF channels are usually only displayed during the set-up menu, whilst the TV receiver is scanning for available channels.
Note that many factors, such as local terrain, buildings and trees, as well as the height of your antenna, length of cable and number of points can all have an effect on the signal level at your TV set. These factors may affect the best choice of antenna for your local area. For more information contact your local Hills branch or a professional installer.
