Watchful Owl saves power
If your clients want to cut the power usage in the home just by switching things off, then get them an Owl so they can see how much they are spending on electricity as they use it. A little Owl with a big digital display will encourage a family to save power as they see the dollars and cents drop as they switch off lights and appliances.
The OWL Wireless Electricity Monitor is designed to highlight unnecessary power consumption and help reduce the base load drawn by a home overnight by turning off appliances not in use. Cutting one cent per hour will save $87 per year, and selling an Owl could lead to energy efficient upgrade work.
Now available from Hills Signal Master, the third generation Owl also incorporates a USB connection so you can track and store power use data via a PC.
Friends and neighbours can borrow the Owl as it simply clips around the incoming power cable. No hard wiring is necessary but we recommend it be attached by an electrician.
The Owl also measures the amount of carbon being released if power was supplied from a thermal generator so kids can run school projects on how they are reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping to save the planet.
Since the first model was launched in 2007 the Owl has become the UK’s top selling power monitor brand and now the new OWL+USB offers a simplified menu, enhanced memory capability, minute by minute data storage and an ultra high speed data download time making tracking electricity consumption easy.
OWL+USB is a portable domestic electricity usage device that can work as an instantaneous power consumption monitor as well as a data logger that stores the daily average power consumption in the past two years.
Both the instantaneous and stored data (30 days detailed info) can be uploaded to the PC for further analysis.
The detailed historical data now features average readings either daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly, plus a two year rolling history storage capacity – all in one handy accessible display.
This latest Owl comprises three elements: the sensor, the transmitter and the display unit.
Installation is safe, quick and easy. The transmitter wirelessly sends data to the display unit and works very reliably up to 30 metres.
OWL +USB receives data from the sensor/ transmitter and converts the current consumption to total power consumption, cost of electricity and greenhouse gas emissions.
The consumption data is available as real-time costs, accumulated costs, and average daily, weekly and monthly costs.
OWL +USB also supports alarm functions to alert the user when the power exceeds the user setting. It also measures indoor temperature and shows all parameters on the large LCD display.
